I've always loved flashlights. Not just the brightest, but sometimes the dimmest (is that a word?). You know, bright for emergencies, but dim for traipsing around the campsite on a moonless night so you don't totally ruin your night vision.
How about those boxes? What kind of person cracks a smile when they see a really interesting box?
Bags? The more zippers, the better! (at least until you need to find something stashed away in the stupid thing!) In the eyes of the "TEOTWAWKI" (The End Of The World As We Know It) crowd, I'm relatively unprepared for major disasters. But, I don't go anywhere without my multi-tool, flashlight, extra batteries, portable backup hard drive, digital camera, various cables for my stuff, fingernail clippers, pen, blah blah blah. I like to carry stuff!! So, I need a good bag...
So, herein lies the subject of this rambling post.... Bags! I've never actually made a bag before, so I thought I'd take a weekend between holster orders and see if I could drum up a pattern. While far from perfect, I'm overall pretty happy with it. Next time I'll use thinner leather. I'll also use oil-tanned leather instead of my standard vegetable-tanned stuff I use for building holsters.
Anyway, what do you think? I'll post final photos once I get it completed - I'll have to hurry though... my daughter says it's hers as soon as it's finished.
UPDATE: I haven't had a chance to take better photos of this, but I wanted to post an update to show the final product. Quite frankly, I'm not sure I'll have another opportunity, as my daughter has already claimed this and may not let me have it long enough to take better photos....
Wow! Gorgeous! When are you going to start taking orders? With the thick leather used that thing will probably last 100 years.
ReplyDeleteBTW, I'm yet to be an ALW holster owner but will be very soon. Love your stuff.
